Frist Trip Abroad With ICD

Tomorrow, I will leave Switzerland for the Flandern fields in Belgium and see the city of Ypres. The first gas attack occured there during Wolrld War One. I have two weeks of vacation and will spend a few days in Ypres with two of my friends who are intersted in history.

I am a bit nervous because it is my first trip to a foreign country since I had my defibrillator (ICD) implanted. It is just that you feel safer home.

Since we are not flying to Belgium, there is no need for special procedures at an airport. Still, I will be carrying my International ICD Registration Card with me and hope that I will not need it.

I have written down the phone number of the nearest hospital in Ypres.

Just in case.
